The General
by Robert Morgan
When Jainin and Jacob move to a small town they meet an old smelly crossing guard that everyone knows as the General. An unlikely friendship blossoms between the General and Jainin as she learns all he does for the community in his unique way. When the town of Bridgeport gets absorbed into the larger city of Kitchener, Jainin, leads the charge as she fights city hall to keep the children’s beloved community crossing guard. *The cost for schools is heavily subsidized so that we can bring the magic of theatre to as many students across Alberta as we can. If you are in a position to support bringing professional theatre productions to Alberta students, please consider making a donation today.
If your school would like to bring in a touring show, but is unable to cover the subsidized fee for the production, we highly recommend you explore funding through Daytrippers Children’s Charity. Daytrippers aims to remove financial barriers and enable enriched learning opportunities for in-need children across Canada. Daytrippers can provide up to $1500 to help elementary students in lower-income and remote communities to experience learning opportunities from recognized educational and cultural institutions to help unlock their full potential. Schools may also be eligible for the Community Initiatives Program (CIP) mentioned below.
If you are a small venue or organization and need assistance bringing a touring show into your community, you may be eligible to apply for the Project-Based stream of the Community Initiatives Program (CIP) from the Government of Alberta. Check their website for more information and eligibility.
