Description

Presented in mask using movement and music, Hello Friend… illustrates the joy of divergent thinking and celebrates the creative play of one undeterred young kid. Our hero meets three interesting characters but will any of them match our youngster's capacity for imagination? A 15-minute whimsical, hunt for friendship, Hello Friend… brings wonder and delight to all!

Themes: resiliency, imagination, adaptability, and friendship.

Meet the Team

  • Joseph McManus

    ACTOR

Joseph is a Calgary-based emerging artist with a BFA in Drama from the University of Calgary. He is a multi-passionate individual whose creative style is influenced both by his background in improv and clown as well as his experience in the marching arts. He is over the moon to be beginning his professional theatre career with Quest and to more deeply explore physical theatre. Joseph has enthusiasm to spare and will be the first one to champion a new idea. Ask him about rollercoasters.

  • Jason Mancini

    ACTOR

Jason is a Calgary based performer and graduate from the University of Calgary’s theatre program. He has previously worked on shows ranging from Midsummer Night’s Dream (Shakespeake in the Park) and a staged reading of Group of Two (Theatre Calgary), to Journey to the Planet of the Senses (Bach Tots) and Radioheaded 2 & 3 (One Yellow Rabbit). He has been part of the Beautiful Young Artists since their inception in 2009, and last worked with The Shakespeare Company and BYA on their Grand Acts of Great Hope piece for the NAC, A Midsummer’s Daydream. Jason is so excited to see the world of Snow Angel branching out and to get to be a part of it with Hello Friend.

  • Andy_Weir_Actor_Picture

    Andy Weir

    UNDERSTUDY

Andy Weir is an actor, juggler, and writer, who has called Calgary home for most of his life. After completing his BFA at the University of Calgary, Andy joined the “Questies” as their lovable intern for a season, where he was lucky enough to tour with their very own Shoes of Sand as the puppeteer. In the summer he chases the sun out to the mountains where he lives and works with Alberta Parks doing educational shows in the campgrounds - and after 13 shows over 6 years he’s played almost every mammal, bird, fish, insect, or arachnid you could think of. Also some plants. Needless to say, Andy greatly enjoys turning ordinary things into wacky characters, and is thrilled by the opportunity to help kids do the same through Quest!

  • Staci Hanley

    STAGE MANAGER

Staci is a Stage Manager/ASM who has recently relocated to Western Canada after growing up in small town Ontario. Staci is an honours graduate of the Technical Production for Theatre and Live Events program at Sheridan College specializing in Stage Management. Some of Staci’s professional highlights are Hairspray, Elf: The Musical, (Theatre Aquarius), Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, Ghost the Musical (Drayton Entertainment), Halfway There, Hurry Hard (Lighthouse Festival Theatre) among many others. Staci is very excited to be here and wishes to thank her friends and family for all of their support.
