GET READY FOR THE QUEST THEATRE

6th ANNUAL YOUTH ART SHOW

Thanks to the generosity of our corporate sponsors and the participation of the Glenbow Museum we are pleased announce our 6TH ANNUAL YOUTH ART SHOW, April 5th and 6th, 2008, for Elementary, Junior and Senior High School students.  We encourage young artists to submit their artwork for consideration.  Winners in each age category receive a cash award of $250.

Participants can enter any kind of artwork they like: paintings, pencil sketches, textiles, sculptures, collages—ANYTHING! 

ENTERING IS FUN AND EASY!

• Create an original artwork with the theme of “FEAR.”
• Write a response to the following two questions (aiming for a total of 100-150 words):           

               A) How did the theme of FEAR influence your artwork?
               B) Why was it important for you to express yourself in this way?

• Fill out the Submission Form and send in your work.

THIS YEAR’S THEME: "FEAR"

Fear comes in many shapes and sizes.  It can thrill us, surprise us, upset us—even paralyze us!

How will you interpret this year’s Art Show theme?
Here are some questions and suggestions that might help get you started:

1. What does “fear” mean to you? 

2. When you think of “fear” what kinds of shapes, lines, colours, textures, etc. come to mind?

3. Using “fear” as a starting point, brainstorm other words you associate with this concept.  Use these words to help you visualize and focus your artwork idea.

Artists whose work is selected by the jury will receive an invitation to attend the April 5th, 2008 awards presentation at the Glenbow Museum and will have the chance to:

» View all of the short-listed artwork (including THEIR OWN!) on display at the  Glenbow Museum.

» Watch the Quest Theatre presentation of Penelope vs. The Aliens! (abridged) on April 5th, 2008 at 11:00am with the awards ceremony immediately following.

» Receive one complimentary admission to the Glenbow Museum on April 5th to explore the amazing art collections of the Museum.
